(BOSTON, MA) The Profound Autism Summit, a groundbreaking two-day conference, will take place April 10-11, 2025, at the Boston Sheraton Hotel. This one-of-a-kind event will bring together leading experts in research, medicine, treatment, advocacy, education, and human services, as well as caregivers and self-advocates, to discuss the complex needs of those with profound autism across disciplines and throughout the lifespan.
Building on the success of its inaugural year, the second annual Summit will welcome more than 750 attendees, including 60 expert speakers and panelists. Topics will include psychopharmacology, planning for the future, progress in adulthood, outcome measures, compassionate care, medical issues, siblings, trauma-informed care, access to medical care, advocacy, and more.
Nashoba Learning Group created the conference in partnership with the Profound Autism Alliance to address the unique challenges faced by individuals with profound autism—those on the spectrum who also have intellectual disabilities, limited language, and require lifelong 24/7 supervision.
“The Summit offers a unique opportunity to unite stakeholders from across our community to learn from one another. Individuals with profound autism and their families are too often left out of research, services, and policy decisions. Their needs differ from autistics who can speak for themselves, so services should be tailored and differentiated to ensure that every individual receives the specific support they need. We are excited to be part of advancing the care and services for individuals with profound autism,” said Liz Martineau, Conference Co-Chair and CEO of Nashoba Learning Group.
“Caregivers of individuals with profound autism often experience isolation, navigating circumstances that are difficult for most to truly comprehend. The Profound Autism Summit is a place where these caregivers can access the latest resources and research and connect with others who share similar lived experiences,” said Judith Ursitti, Conference Co-Chair and Founder and CEO of Profound Autism Alliance.
Continuing education credits will be offered for BCBAs, psychologists, and social workers, recognizing the vital role these professionals play in supporting individuals with profound autism. To learn more, please email pas@nashobalearninggroup.org.
