Diversity, Community, & Belonging

At NLG, every person brings a story, a culture, and a set of strengths that enrich our community. We honor differences in identity, communication, ability, and lived experience, because providing meaningful teaching and support starts with acknowledging everyone’s uniqueness. We strive to build an environment where learners, families, and employees feel welcomed, respected, and valued for who they are. Belonging is not an outcome, it’s something we create together through daily interactions, shared connection, and trust.

Our Mission & Why It Matters

At NLG, our mission is to enable children and adults with autism to function with the greatest possible productivity and independence in the community, home, and workplace throughout their lives. What does that have to do with belonging? We believe that this mission can only be fulfilled when everyone in our community — learners, families, and staff — can show up fully, be respected, feel safe, and feel valued for who they are. When people feel like they belong, they engage, learn, teach, and grow in ways that make our work more meaningful and effective.

Our Commitment to Community, Acceptance & Respect

We recognize that each person at NLG comes with a unique background, and that’s a strength. We’re committed to building a culture that embraces what makes us each different (identity, ability, culture, language, life experience) and creates a space where all those differences matter.
