Adult Program Overview

Nashoba Learning Group is creating an Adult Day Program that will provide participants 22 and older with the platform to enjoy a productive and fulfilling life.  This Adult Program will be designed to serve as a model for addressing a rapidly growing, urgent problem nationally as well as internationally.  NLG is working in collaboration with Advocates, Inc so that NLG day services can be smoothly integrated with residential, in-home, and other supports that may be provided by Advocates.  Our joint vision is to allow adults with autism to achieve success in all aspects of their lives.  NLG plans to open our Adult Day Program in early 2013.

The NLG Adult Program will be a pioneer for other programs for adults with Autism because of its scope, depth of content and the quality of its staff.  It will be available to adults with Autism in addition to those currently served by NLG whose ongoing needs fit with the program.  The Adult Program will combine appropriate work and volunteer opportunities with continued job and life-skills training, community engagement and recreational activities for its members.

The Adult Program will be distinguished from other offerings by the quality, training and supervision of program staff, which have been the underpinning of NLG’s success to date in enabling students with Autism to achieve their potential.  The program will target continued skills development for participants with the goal of increasing independence and gradually reducing the need for trained supervision over time.
